Amazon recently rolled out “brand restrictions” across its platform for private label sellers. While this could mean bad news for online and retail arbitrage sellers, it’s just additional ammunition in the private label seller’s arsenal in kicking counterfeit sellers to the curb.

In a new effort to protect consumers and the integrity of their marketplace, Amazon has begun to require sellers to prove they are authorized to sell specific brands. This new ‘brand gating’ process is Amazon’s response to the increase of counterfeiters flooding the Amazon marketplace.
